自動車部品大手のマレリホールディングスは2022年に民事再生法の適用を申請し、経営再建を目指してきましたが、取引先の日産自動車や海外の自動車メーカー、ステランティスの業績悪化で部品の販売が低迷し、去年12月以降は金融機関に借入金の返済を猶予してもらうなど資金繰りが厳しくなっていました
Major auto parts supplier Marelli Holdings applied for civil rehabilitation in 2022 and has been working toward business reconstruction. However, due to poor performance by its clients, such as Nissan Motor and overseas automakers like Stellantis, parts sales have stagnated. Since December last year, the company has faced severe cash flow problems, including having to ask financial institutions to defer loan repayments.
こうした中、マレリはインドの同業大手をスポンサーにして金融機関に債務を減免してもらう再建案を提示しましたが、金融機関などとの協議が難航し、合意に至らなかったことから、11日、日本の民事再生法にあたる連邦破産法第11条の適用をアメリカの裁判所に申請しました
In this situation, Marelli presented a restructuring plan to financial institutions that involved having a major Indian peer as a sponsor and having the financial institutions forgive some of its debts. However, negotiations with the financial institutions and others became difficult and no agreement was reached, so on the 11th, Marelli filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which is equivalent to Japans Civil Rehabilitation Act, with a U.S. court.
会社によりますと、負債総額はおよそ49億ドル、日本円で7000億円余りだということです
According to the company, the total amount of debt is approximately 4.9 billion dollars, which is a little over 700 billion yen.
会社は事業を継続しながら負債を整理し、再建を目指すとしていて、当面の資金繰りのため11億ドル=日本円でおよそ1600億円の融資枠を確保したほか、金融機関からの借り入れなどの債務を株式に転換する「債務の株式化」を含めて負債を圧縮するとしています
The company aims to continue its business operations while restructuring its debts and working toward reconstruction. To secure immediate funding, it has arranged a credit line of $1.1 billion, which is approximately 160 billion yen. In addition, it plans to reduce its debts by measures such as debt-to-equity swaps, which involve converting loans and other debts from financial institutions into shares.

マレリは、かつて日産自動車の子会社だった旧カルソニックカンセイと海外の部品メーカーが合流してできた会社で、ステランティスや日産が主力の取引先となっています

このうち日産はことし3月期の決算で6708億円の巨額の最終赤字に陥ったことから工場の削減を含む大規模な合理化を検討していて、こうした影響も懸念される中、マレリが他社との連携などを通じて経営基盤の再構築に道筋をつけられるかが課題となります
