Due to the influence of the seasonal rain front, rain clouds are developing locally in Kyushu.

In Kagoshima Prefecture, excluding the Amami region, there is a risk of heavy rain due to the formation of a linear rainband from the morning to night of the 9th. Please be alert for landslides and river flooding, and stay in a safe place.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, warm and humid air is flowing toward the rainy season front passing south of Japan, causing unstable atmospheric conditions mainly in western Japan, and localized rain clouds are developing in areas such as Kagoshima and Kumamoto prefectures.

The front is expected to gradually move northward and remain stationary over western and eastern Japan through the 11th.

On the 9th, in addition to southern Kyushu, there is a risk of very heavy rain accompanied by localized thunderstorms in northern Kyushu as well.

In particular, in the southern part of Kyushu, developed rain clouds are expected to continue appearing one after another from the morning of the 9th. In Kagoshima Prefecture, excluding the Amami region, a linear rainband is expected to form through the night of the 9th, with very heavy rain continuing and the risk of disasters increasing rapidly.

The amount of rainfall expected in the 24 hours until the morning of the 10th is up to 200 millimeters in southern Kyushu and 150 millimeters in northern Kyushu.

After that, the rain is expected to continue, with rainfall amounts in the 24 hours until the morning of the 11th forecast to be up to 200 millimeters in northern Kyushu, and up to 120 millimeters in southern Kyushu and Yamaguchi Prefecture.

The Japan Meteorological Agency is urging people to be on alert for landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and river overflows, as well as to be cautious of lightning and severe gusts of wind such as tornadoes.
