タイとカンボジアが領有権を争う国境地帯では今月24日以降、両国の軍による武力衝突が続いていて、両政府によりますと、これまでに双方の住民や兵士あわせて30人以上が死亡したということです

こうした中、ASEAN=東南アジア諸国連合の議長国、マレーシアに続きアメリカのトランプ大統領も双方に停戦を強く働きかけ、これを受けてタイ政府は27日、プームタム首相代行らの代表団が28日にマレーシアを訪問し、和平に関する協議に参加すると発表しました

一方、アメリカのルビオ国務長官は、27日の声明で「タイとカンボジアの平和と安定のため、今後の協議を支援する用意がある」と表明しました

ただ、国境地帯では27日も双方の砲撃で住宅や寺が被害を受けたと互いに主張するなど非難の応酬が続いていて、28日の協議で両国が停戦で合意できるかが焦点となります
