Since July 24, armed clashes between the militaries of Thailand and Cambodia have continued in the border area between the two countries. So far, authorities on both sides report that 20 people have died and over 30 have been injured on the Thai side, while 13 people have died and dozens have been injured on the Cambodian side.

In this context, U.S. President Trump revealed in a social media post on the 26th that he had contacted the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand respectively, and requested both countries to cease hostilities.

President Trump referred to tariff negotiations with both countries and stated, As long as the battle continues, we will not do business with either country, and revealed that both countries have agreed to start talks toward a ceasefire.

After that, Thailands Acting Prime Minister Phumtham stated in a post on social media that in principle, there is an intention to agree to a ceasefire, and also expressed a desire to hold bilateral talks as soon as possible.

Also, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet posted on his social media on the morning of the 27th, saying, I clearly conveyed to President Trump my agreement to the proposal for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.

And he revealed that he had instructed the responsible minister to proceed with discussions.

However, according to authorities from both countries, attacks from both sides continued in the border area on the morning of the 27th, and the focus is now on whether bilateral talks can be held soon and lead to a ceasefire.
