Ōnosato won his fourth championship in two consecutive tournaments with a record of 14 wins and 1 loss at the May Summer Basho, and after the tournament, he was promoted to the 75th yokozuna.

It is the fastest promotion to yokozuna since the rank of yokozuna was formally established as a position on the banzuke in 1909, taking only 13 tournaments from his debut.

In the rankings for the Nagoya tournament announced on the 30th, Onosato was placed as the West Yokozuna, and along with Hoshoryu as the East Yokozuna, this is the first time in about four years, since the Autumn tournament of Reiwa 3, that there have been Yokozuna on both the East and West sides in the rankings.
