The income of members of both houses of the Diet for last year has been made public, with the average income per member being 25.13 million yen.

The 572 members of both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors who served as lawmakers throughout last year are subject to income disclosure, and this does not include lawmakers who were elected for the first time in the House of Representatives election last October.

According to NHKs survey, the average annual income per member of parliament last year was 26 million yen for members of the House of Representatives and 23.87 million yen for members of the House of Councillors, with an overall average of 25.13 million yen, which is 170,000 yen less than the previous year.

The highest income was earned by Liberal Democratic Party House of Representatives member Kenji Nakanishi, at 662.45 million yen.

Next is Liberal Democratic Partys Ken Akamatsu, a member of the House of Councillors, with 226.58 million yen, and Finance Minister Kato of the Liberal Democratic Party with 225.93 million yen, among others.

The incomes of each party leader are as follows: Prime Minister Ishiba, President of the Liberal Democratic Party, has 30.41 million yen; Representative Noda of the Constitutional Democratic Party has 21.52 million yen; Co-Representative Maehara of Nippon Ishin no Kai has 23.93 million yen; Representative Saito of the Komeito Party has 28.25 million yen; Representative Tamaki of the Democratic Party for the People has 25.84 million yen; Representative Yamamoto of Reiwa Shinsengumi has 22.44 million yen; Representative Kamiya of the Sanseito Party has 22.80 million yen; and Party Leader Fukushima of the Social Democratic Party has 21.48 million yen.

Additionally, the average income of members by political party is as follows: the Liberal Democratic Party at 28.22 million yen; the Constitutional Democratic Party at 21.88 million yen; Nippon Ishin no Kai at 23.08 million yen; Komeito at 21.04 million yen; the Democratic Party for the People at 24.64 million yen; the Japanese Communist Party at 20.24 million yen; Reiwa Shinsengumi at 20.90 million yen; the Sanseito at 20.90 million yen; and the Social Democratic Party at 20.43 million yen.
