NHKが各地の医療機関に取材したところ、ことしこれまでに全国で少なくとも4人の乳児が百日せきに感染して重症化し、人工心肺装置=ECMOなどの治療を受けたものの亡くなったことが分かりました

生後2か月の乳児が亡くなった群馬県立小児医療センターではここ数年、百日せきで入院した患者はいませんでしたが、ことしはすでに3人の子どもが入院したということで、感染症科の清水彰彦 部長は「感染者が増えるとともに重症になる子どもが増えている」と危機感を示しています
