In response to the agreement reached in the Japan-U.S. negotiations over U.S. tariff measures, a meeting was held between the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties. Prime Minister Ishiba explained that, based on the idea of prioritizing investment over tariffs, they protected what needed to be protected and were able to reach an agreement that aligns with the interests of both countries.

The meeting of ruling and opposition party leaders was held in the Diet building from 10:00 a.m. for about one hour and ten minutes, attended by Prime Minister Ishiba, Constitutional Democratic Party leader Noda, Japan Innovation Party co-leader Maehara, Democratic Party for the People leader Tamaki, Komeito leader Saito, Sanseito leader Kamiya, Reiwa Shinsengumi co-leader Oishi, and Japanese Communist Party chairperson Tamura, making a total of eight party leaders from both ruling and opposition parties.
冒頭、石破総理大臣は「関税より投資という考え方のもと、2月に私がトランプ大統領に提案をして以来、一貫してアメリカに主張し働きかけを強力に続けてきた結果、守るべきものは守った上で、日米両国の国益に一致する形で合意を実現することができた」と述べました
At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba stated, Based on the idea that investment is more important than tariffs, ever since I made a proposal to President Trump in February, I have consistently asserted Japans position and strongly lobbied the United States. As a result, we were able to reach an agreement that protects what needs to be protected and aligns with the national interests of both Japan and the United States.

立憲民主党の野田代表は記者団に対し「日米間で合意文書をつくっていないので解釈のしかたによってどんどんアメリカから揺さぶられる可能性がある

党首会談にさきがけ、政府はすべての閣僚をメンバーとする総合対策本部の会合を開きました
The government held a meeting of the Comprehensive Countermeasures Headquarters, which includes all cabinet ministers as members, ahead of the party leaders meeting, and instructed the steady implementation of the agreed measures.
この中で石破総理大臣は回">今回の合意について「私がトランプ大統領に『関税より投資』と提案して以来、一貫して主張し、働きかけを強力に進めた結果、守るべきは守り両国の国益に資する形での合意を実現できた」と成果を強調しました
In this statement, Prime Minister Ishiba emphasized the outcome of the agreement, saying, Since I proposed to President Trump that investment is better than tariffs, I have consistently advocated for this and strongly pushed for it. As a result, we were able to reach an agreement that protects what needs to be protected and serves the national interests of both countries.
その上で「今後は、合意の内容を日米双方が着実に履行し、相互利益の促進につながる成果を早期にあげていくことが極めて重要だ」と述べ、政府のタスクフォースの機能を強化し、合意を着実に実施していくよう指示しました
On top of that, he stated, From now on, it is extremely important for both Japan and the U.S. to steadily implement the contents of the agreement and to achieve results that will lead to the promotion of mutual benefits as soon as possible. He instructed to strengthen the functions of the government task force and to ensure the steady implementation of the agreement.
さらに国内産業への影響を分析し▽全国に設けた特別相談窓口で品目ごとの税率を案内することや▽資金繰りの相談に応じることなど産業や雇用に与える影響の緩和に万全を期すことも求めました
Furthermore, they requested a thorough analysis of the impact on domestic industries, as well as full measures to mitigate the effects on industry and employment, such as providing information on tax rates for each item at special consultation counters set up nationwide and offering consultations on financing.
そして「赤澤経済再生担当大臣は8回訪米して全身全霊で交渉にあたり、全省庁がこれ以上ないほど尽力した結果であり言葉に尽くせないほどの感謝の思いがある
And Minister for Economic Revitalization Akazawa visited the United States eight times and devoted himself wholeheartedly to the negotiations. All government ministries and agencies made every possible effort, and I am filled with gratitude beyond words.
