The story of buying parents

昔むかし、佐渡さどのある村むらに百姓ひゃくしょうの若夫婦わかふうふが住すんでいました

A long time ago, a young farmer lived in a village in Sado.

子供こどももまだなく、両親りょうしんともすでに他界たかいしていたので、さびしい思おもいをしていました

I had no children yet, and my parents had already passed away, so I was feeling lonely.

ある日ひ、親おやを売うるという商人しょうにんがやってきました

One day, a merchant came to sell his parents.

夫婦ふうふはちょうど親孝行おやこうこうがしたかったので、喜よろこんで親おやを買かう事ことにしました

The couple wanted to be filial, so they were happy to buy their parents.

さっそく200文ぶんのお金かねを払はらい、きっと貧乏びんぼうで可哀かわいそうな爺じいさんと婆ばあさんだろうからと、温あたたかい綿めんの入はいった着物きものを用意よういする事ことにしました

I immediately paid 200 sentences and decided to prepare a kimono filled with warm cotton, as it was surely a poor and poor old man and grandma.

貧乏びんぼうでお金かねが無ないので、自分じぶんたちの着物きものと布団ふとんを解体かいたいして、着物きものを作つくりました

I'm poor and have no money, so I dismantled my own kimono and futon and made a kimono.

七日経なのかたって、いよいよ親おやを迎むかえに行いくと、何なにとそこは立派りっぱな屋敷やしきの大金持おおがねもちの家いえでした

屋敷やしきの中なかでは、沢山たくさんの息子娘むすこむすめがいて、みな自分じぶんが多おおくの財産ざいさんを譲ゆずり受うけようと大おおげんかしていました

そこへ貧乏夫婦びんぼうふうふがやってきて粗末そまつな着物きものを手渡てわたしたので、長者ちょうじゃの息子むすこたちは大笑だいわらいしました

Then a poor couple came and handed me a poor kimono, and the eldest sons laughed a lot.

しかし、大金持おおがねもちの老夫婦ろうふうふは「こんな孝行者こうこうしゃの子供こどもが出来できて良よかった」と言いい、本当ほんとうの子供こどもとして屋敷やしきに迎むかえ入いれました

However, the rich elderly couple said, "I'm glad that they had a child with such a filial piety," and welcomed them into the mansion as real children.

そして、老夫婦ろうふうふの財産ざいさんは全すべてこの百姓夫婦ひゃくしょうふうふに譲ゆずり渡わたし、やがて夫婦ふうふにかわいい子供こどもも生うまれ、末永すえながく幸しあわせに一緒いっしょに暮くらしました

All of the assets of the elderly couple were handed over to this farmer couple, and eventually the couple also had a cute child, and they lived together for a long time happily.
