On the 11th, a new basic plan for agricultural policy was approved by the Cabinet, outlining the policies the country should pursue over the next five years, including numerical targets related to stable food supply and export expansion.

Among these, regarding the export volume of rice, including packed rice, by 2030 it is expected to be 7 times the current amount.

The goal is to increase it to 353,000 tons, which is five times the current amount.

In addition to strengthening the earning power of rice farmers through the expansion of exports, by increasing production for export, there is also an aim to stabilize supply and demand by redirecting rice intended for export to the domestic market when domestic supply and demand become tight.

In addition, the consumption amount related to food and beverages by foreign visitors to Japan is expected to double by 2030 compared to the current level.

The revenue from overseas operations of Japanese food manufacturers and restaurant chains, which amounts to 4.5 trillion yen, is expected to be eight times the current level by 2030.

It also includes the goal of raising each to 3 trillion yen, which is eight times the current amount.

On the other hand, the food self-sufficiency rate is to be increased from the current 38% to 45% by fiscal year 2030, and the export value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and food is to be increased from the current level to 3 by 2030.
