After this earthquake, residents of Akusekijima and Kodakarajima were evacuated off the islands in three separate instances, and the impact of the earthquake on the lives of the residents continues.

In the area around Akusekijima and Kodakarajima in the Tokara Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture, seismic activity has become active since June 21, and a week ago, on the 3rd of this month, an earthquake with a seismic intensity of lower 6 was observed on Akusekijima.

After that, earthquakes with a seismic intensity of upper 5 and lower 5 continued to occur, and as voices of concern were raised by island residents saying they couldnt sleep and were worried about further damage, the village arranged for three rounds of evacuations outside the islands using the village-operated ferry on the 4th, 6th, and 9th of this month, targeting residents of Akusekijima and Kodakarajima. So far, 49 people from Akusekijima and 15 people from Kodakarajima have evacuated.

In the village, the initial plan is to set the evacuation period off the island at around one week from the first group, aiming for the 11th, and it is expected that a decision on whether to extend it will be made soon while monitoring the seismic activity.

Also, since students at the compulsory education schools on the two islands have evacuated, remote classes started at each school this week. With the end-of-term ceremony for the first semester scheduled for the 18th, there is a possibility that summer vacation will begin as is.

On the other hand, 20 people on Akusekijima and 44 people on Kodakarajima have continued to live on the islands without leaving, and support for their health, such as dispatching nurses, is being provided.
