Prime Minister Ishiba arrived in Calgary, Canada on the government plane shortly before 9 a.m. Japan time on the 16th.

I will attend the G7 Summit—the meeting of leaders from the seven major countries—which will begin discussions in the early hours of the 17th, Japan time.

At this summit, discussions are expected to focus on the situation in the Middle East, which is becoming increasingly tense due to military clashes between Israel and Iran, as well as on Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific region. Prime Minister Ishiba intends to emphasize his commitment to promoting peace and stability in the international community and to reaffirm the importance of G7 unity.

Additionally, as uncertainty about the future increases due to the tariff measures imposed by the Trump administration in the United States, they also hope to deepen discussions on the outlook for the global economy, economic security, and strengthening supply chains.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Ishiba is scheduled to hold a Japan-U.S. summit meeting with U.S. President Trump during the summit, and according to Japanese government officials, arrangements are being made with the U.S. side to hold the meeting in the early hours of the 17th Japan time.

The focus of the talks will be whether a certain agreement can be reached in the negotiations following a series of tariff measures.

Furthermore, he is scheduled to hold his first-ever summit meetings with President Lee Jae-myung of South Korea, who is participating as an invited country at the summit, as well as with President Zelensky of Ukraine, aiming to strengthen relations with each country.
