今回の選挙は248議席のうち、改選の124議席と東京選挙区の欠員の補充をあわせた125議席をめぐって争われ、選挙区と比例代表あわせて522人が立候補しました。
This election was contested for 125 seats—124 regular seats up for re-election and one to fill a vacancy in the Tokyo electoral district—out of a total of 248 seats, with 522 candidates running in both the electoral districts and the proportional representation system.
投票は、19日までに繰り上げ投票が行われた離島など、一部の地域を除き、全国およそ4万4700か所の投票所で午前7時から始まりました。
Voting began at around 44,700 polling stations nationwide at 7 a.m., except for some areas such as remote islands where early voting was held by the 19th.
一方、18日までに18日「期日前投票」を行った人は、有権者全体の20%あまりにあたるおよそ2145万人で、前回・3年前の同じ時点と比べ、532万人あまり増えています。
On the other hand, as of the 18th, about 21.45 million people, or just over 20% of all eligible voters, had already cast their ballots in advance voting. This is an increase of more than 5.32 million compared to the same point three years ago.
選挙戦では喫緊の課題となっている物価高対策が主要な争点の1つとなり、各党とも給付の実施や、消費税率の引き下げや廃止、コメの価格高騰対策などを訴えました。

また、社会保障や少子化対策、アメリカの関税措置への対応を含む外交・安全保障政策、外国人に関する政策などについても激しい論戦が交わされました。
In addition, there was intense debate over issues such as social security, measures to address the declining birthrate, foreign and security policies including responses to U.S. tariff measures, and policies concerning foreigners.
今回の選挙は、衆議院で少数与党の状況の中、与野党どちらが全体の過半数を制するかが最大の焦点で、与党が過半数を維持するためには50議席の確保が必要となります。
This election’s main focus is whether the ruling or opposition parties will secure a majority in the House of Representatives, where the ruling party currently holds a minority. The ruling party needs to win 50 seats to maintain its majority.
投票は、一部の投票所を除き、午後8時で締め切られ、即日開票されます。
Voting will close at 8:00 p.m. except at some polling stations, and the ballots will be counted on the same day.
