都内にある自宅では、4日午前中、長嶋さんが監督時代に指導した中畑清さんや高橋由伸さんなど教え子たちが弔問に訪れました
At his home in Tokyo on the morning of the 4th, former players whom Mr. Nagashima coached during his managerial days, such as Kiyoshi Nakahata and Yoshinobu Takahashi, came to pay their respects.
中畑清さん「これからも目標にと伝えました」
中畑清さんは、長嶋さんが1期目の監督を務めていた時に選手としてプレーし、2004年のアテネオリンピックでは病気のため指揮をとることができなかった監督の長嶋さんに代わって日本代表のヘッドコーチを務めました
Kiyoshi Nakahata said, I told him to continue to be my goal. Nakahata played as a player when Mr. Nagashima was serving as manager for his first term, and at the 2004 Athens Olympics, he served as the head coach of the Japanese national team in place of Mr. Nagashima, who was unable to lead the team due to illness.

長嶋さんが2期目の監督を務めていた1998年に巨人に入団し、監督も務めた高橋由伸さんは「家族の方や中畑さんもいて、昔話で談笑していたんですが今にも笑い出しそうな表情でした
