In Sudan, Africa, where a humanitarian crisis continues due to clashes between the military and paramilitary groups, a UN truck carrying relief supplies was attacked by unknown assailants, resulting in the deaths of five people. The United Nations has strongly condemned this as a violation of international humanitarian law.
国連によりますとスーダン西部の北ダルフールで2日、食料などの支援物資を運んでいたWFP=世界食糧計画とユニセフ=国連児童基金のトラック15台が何者かの攻撃を受けました。
According to the United Nations, on the 2nd in North Darfur, western Sudan, fifteen trucks belonging to the WFP World Food Programme and UNICEF United Nations Childrens Fund, which were transporting food and other aid supplies, were attacked by unknown assailants.
この襲撃でスーダン人スタッフ5人が死亡し、トラック数台が失われ、深刻な食料難が続く北ダルフールのファシルに1年以上ぶりに届けようとしていた支援物資が被害を受けたということです。
In this raid, five Sudanese staff members were killed, several trucks were lost, and the aid supplies that were being delivered to Fasher in North Darfur, which has been suffering from a severe food shortage, for the first time in over a year, were damaged.
スーダンではおととしから軍と準軍事組織RSF=即応支援部隊の武力衝突が続いていて、NGOによりますと2万8000人以上が死亡し、国連は1200万人以上が家を追われたと指摘するなど人道危機が続いています。
In Sudan, armed clashes between the military and the paramilitary group RSF Rapid Support Forces have been ongoing since the year before last. According to NGOs, more than 28,000 people have died, and the United Nations points out that over 12 million people have been displaced from their homes, resulting in an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
ロイター通信によりますと軍とRSFはそれぞれ相手側による攻撃だと非難する声明を発表したということです。
According to Reuters, both the military and the RSF have issued statements accusing each other of carrying out the attacks.
国連の報道官は「深刻な食料難に直面するスーダンの子どもたちや家族に手を差し伸べようと文字通り命をかけた人道支援要員に対する恐ろしい暴力行為を可能な限り強い言葉で非難する」と述べたうえで、人道支援にかかわる要員や車両への攻撃は、国際人道法違反だとして、緊急の調査と加害者の責任追及を求めています。
A UN spokesperson stated, We condemn in the strongest possible terms the horrific acts of violence against humanitarian workers who are literally risking their lives to reach children and families in Sudan facing severe food shortages. The spokesperson also emphasized that attacks on humanitarian personnel and vehicles constitute violations of international humanitarian law, and called for an urgent investigation and accountability for the perpetrators.
