Discovered high-ranking female mummy from 5,000 years ago in Peru
A female mummy from 5,000 years ago was found in Peru, South America
The site is the Aspero ruins, about 180km north of the capital, Lima.
The mummy is a woman between the ages of 20 and 35 and is about 150cm tall.
Mummies still have some hair, nails and skin.
This woman was wrapped in a luxury cloak
There was also a special item on the head that represented a high status.
Archaeologists believe this woman was a high-ranking figure in the ancient Caral civilization.
The excavated David Palomino said, "This mummy was found near the Aspero pyramid.
The way she wraps and preserves her can tell she is a high-ranking woman.
It's a very valuable discovery."
