Prime Minister Ishiba received a report from Nippon Steel Chairman Hashimoto that the acquisition of major American steel company U.S. Steel had been completed, and expressed the view that this would serve as a model case for Japan and the United States to build good relations in the economic field going forward.
石破総理大臣は2日、総理大臣官邸で日本製鉄の橋本会長と面会し、アメリカの鉄鋼大手USスチールを完全子会社化し、買収を完了したと報告を受けました
Prime Minister Ishiba met with Nippon Steel Chairman Hashimoto at the Prime Ministers Office on the 2nd, where he was informed that Nippon Steel had completed the acquisition of U.S. Steel, a major American steelmaker, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
この中で橋本会長は「ことし2月上旬の石破総理大臣とトランプ大統領のトップ会談で実現の道が大きく開いたもので改めてお礼申し上げる」と述べ、政府の交渉の後押しに謝意を示しました
In this, Chairman Hashimoto said, The path to realization was greatly opened by the summit meeting between Prime Minister Ishiba and President Trump in early February this year, and I would like to express my gratitude once again, expressing appreciation for the governments support in the negotiations.
その上で「品質を足元から向上させ、日米の製造業の連携が実際に役立つことを一つずつ証明していきたい」と述べました
On top of that, he stated, I want to improve quality from the ground up and prove, one by one, that collaboration between Japanese and American manufacturing industries is actually beneficial.
これに対し石破総理大臣は「『関税よりも投資』ということで日米交渉を進めている
In response, Prime Minister Ishiba said, We are proceeding with the Japan-U.S. negotiations with a focus on investment rather than tariffs.

案件だと
考えており、
これから先の日米関係のモデルケースになり
得るものだ」と
述べました

このあと橋本会長は記者団に対し「製造業の復活というアメリカ・トランプ政権の目標の実現のためには日米の製造業の連携が有効だと示したい
