連日の猛暑で、食べたくなるのはウナギ。

水産庁によりますと、1957年は年間およそ200トンの稚魚が獲れていましたが、去年はわずか5.6トンほどまで減少していて、ウナギの価格も高騰しています。

こうしたなか、水産庁は天然資源に依存している現状を解決しようとウナギを卵から養殖する研究を進めていて、今回、生産コストを大幅に下げることに成功したと発表しました。

一方、天然物のウナギと比べると、まだ3倍から4倍程度のコストがかかるため、水産庁は「技術開発を続ける」と説明しています。
