化粧品メーカーのアルソアは山梨県にある自社の農園で消費期限が切れたパンを堆肥の原料として利用し、カリフラワーやキャベツ、ビーツなどの有機野菜を栽培しています。
The ARSOA cosmetics maker uses expired bread as a fertilizer for its own farm in Yamanashi prefecture, grows organic vegetables such as cauliflowers, cabbages and beets.
今年は12トンの堆肥を製造し、約200種類の野菜を生産する予定で今月から収穫が始まりました。
This year, the company produces 12 tons of organic fertilizer, plans to produce about 200 types of vegetables, and the harvest begun from this month.
収穫された野菜はレストランでサラダとして提供されるほか、堆肥の原料となったパンを作るベーカリーでサンドイッチの具材にもなるということです。
The harvested vegetables will be served as salad at restaurants, used as ingredients for sandwiches at the bakeries where produce breads used as fertilizer material.
アルソアは今後も廃棄される食品の有効活用に取り組みたいとしています。
