フェイスブックが許可なくユーザーの位置情報を追跡して利用していたとして訴えられた裁判で、原告側に約50億円を支払うことで和解したと明らかになりました。
フェイスブックを運営するメタ社とプライバシーの侵害を主張する原告側は22日、メタ社が3750万ドル、約50億円を支払うことで和解したとする書類をサンフランシスコの連邦地裁に提出しました。
原告は位置サービスをオフにしていたにもかかわらず、フェイスブックが位置情報を取得して的を絞った広告を送っていたと主張しています。
メタ社はこの行為を否定しているものの、和解には応じた形です。
和解金を受け取ることができる対象は2015年から18年にアメリカに居住し、フェイスブックを利用していた約7000万人とみられています。
