参議院選挙は、公職選挙法で、国会が閉会してから24日以後、30日以内に行われることになっています
The House of Councillors election is stipulated by the Public Offices Election Act to be held no sooner than 24 days and no later than 30 days after the Diet is adjourned.
通常国会の閉会を受けて、政府は24日の閣議で、参議院選挙を7月3日公示、20日投票の日程で行うことを決めました

7月20日の投票日は日曜日で、翌21日が祝日の「海の日」であることから3連休の中日となります

今回の参議院選挙は、248議席のうち、改選の124議席と東京選挙区の欠員の補充をあわせて、125議席をめぐって争われます

選挙戦では、物価高対策をはじめ、少子化対策や年金といった社会保障などをめぐって論戦が交わされる見通しです
