Employees of the major hair removal salon chain MUSEE PLATINUM have not received several months worth of wages up to March of this year, and, citing reasons such as the operating company has a large amount of debt and is in a state of insolvency, have decided to file for bankruptcy proceedings against the company at the Tokyo District Court, according to interviews with their attorney.

The operating company told NHK in an interview that about 1.5 billion yen in wages remain unpaid, but commented, We will begin partial payments at the end of this month and expect to complete all payments within the year.

MUSEE PLATINUM, a major company in the industry operating approximately 170 hair removal salons nationwide, has closed all of its stores since late March this year, citing reasons such as a transition in management structure.

According to the operating company, they are making arrangements so that treatments can be received at other salons, etc., in sequence. However, it is reported that for the more than 2,300 employees, about 1.5 billion yen in wages have not been paid from January to April of this year.

In response to this situation, it has been learned from interviews with the attorney representing the employees that some employees who were not paid their salaries for several months up to this March have decided to file a petition with the Tokyo District Court to initiate bankruptcy proceedings for the company, claiming that the operating company has significant debts and is insolvent, in order to prevent the outflow of assets.

The court that receives the petition will listen to both the petitioner and the operating company to confirm whether it is truly a situation where payment cannot be made, and then decide whether to commence bankruptcy proceedings.
