Prime Minister Ishiba held a phone conversation with President Trump regarding U.S. tariff measures, and once again explained Japans position that expanding Japanese investment would serve the interests of both countries.

Minister Akazawa, in charge of economic revitalization, is expected to attend ministerial negotiations as early as the night of the 30th Japan time, and hopes to find common ground to move closer to an agreement.

Regarding the Trump administrations tariff measures in the United States, Prime Minister Ishiba held a telephone conversation with President Trump on the night of the 29th, following last week.

On that basis, the two leaders agreed that Minister for Economic Revitalization Akazawa and Treasury Secretary Bessent, among other cabinet members, would continue to hold detailed discussions.

On the other hand, Minister Akazawa, who will be attending the ministerial negotiations, will arrive in Washington on the morning of the 30th.

According to government officials, Secretary Bessent, who is said to have the strong trust of President Trump, will participate in the upcoming negotiations at the request of the American side, and the talks are expected to take place on the night of the 30th, Japan time.

As Minister Akazawa, he intends to repeatedly request a review of the series of tariff measures, seek points of compromise toward reaching an agreement, and create an environment in which a report can be made to President Trump.

No Impact from Injunction Order, Talks with Japan and Others to Continue - U.S. Spokesperson Regarding the International Trade Courts order to halt measures such as reciprocal tariffs and blanket tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, White House spokesperson Leavitt stated at a press conference on the 29th that the courts decision would have no impact, emphasizing that the U.S. will continue discussions with Japan and other countries concerning tariff measures.

Spokesperson Leavitt said, The Trump administration has faced a new case of judicial overreach.

The president criticized the decision of the International Trade Court, saying, If the presidents diplomatic and trade negotiations are hindered by judges, America cannot function.

On top of that, he stated, Ultimately, the Supreme Court must put an end to this situation for the sake of the Constitution and the country, emphasizing his view that the U.S. Supreme Court should make a decision recognizing the Trump administrations tariff measures.

Leavitt, the spokesperson, also commented on the phone conversation between President Trump and Prime Minister Ishiba, saying, President Trump said it was a very good call and that they had a productive discussion.
