Regarding the bills related to pension system reform, following an agreement between the leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, and the Constitutional Democratic Party on the 27th, a revised bill including measures to raise the basic pension was jointly submitted to the Diet, and deliberations began in the House of Representatives Committee on Health, Labor and Welfare.

Regarding the bills related to pension system reform, the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, and the Constitutional Democratic Party held a meeting between party leaders on the 27th and agreed to amend the bill by including a supplementary provision to raise the basic pension.

In response to this, the three parties jointly submitted a revised bill to the House of Representatives Committee on Health, Labor and Welfare on the 28th, and deliberations began at the committee meeting held from the morning.

In his statement of purpose, Nobuhiko Isaka of the Constitutional Democratic Party said, The decline in the basic pension benefit level has a greater impact on low- and middle-income groups, and will lead to a decrease in future pension amounts for the working generation, including the employment ice age generation, and young people.

He stated, We submitted it to raise the basic pension.

In the proposed revision, it is stated that if, in the public pension fiscal review four years from now, a future decrease in the basic pension benefit level is expected, measures will be taken to boost it by utilizing the Employees’ Pension Insurance reserve funds. It also states that, at that time, measures will be taken to mitigate the impact of any temporary decrease in the Employees’ Pension Insurance benefit level.

On the other hand, at the preceding board meeting, the ruling party proposed to hold a vote on the revised bill and other matters at the committee meeting on the 30th, and it was decided that discussions would continue.
